FAQ

  • Possibly. If you are paying out of pocket, you will not need a referral.

If you will be using your insurance benefits for nutrition counseling, some insurance companies require a referral. Please verify with your insurance provider. See the section on Rates and Insurance for more information.

  • I enjoy working with adults (18+) of all ages.

  • Here is the age-old answer of “it depends.”

There are many factors that will determine how long we work together. Nutrition counseling tends to be a long-term process as it takes time to make meaningful change in our thoughts and behaviors.

I tend to encourage more frequent visits at least in the beginning. We will discuss what this process may look like for you and set expectations in our initial sessions, and we will continue to check in as we work together to ensure your needs are met.

  • I practice from a weight-inclusive approach that honors diversity in body size, which means that my focus is on helping clients achieve their health goals without a focus on weight loss.

I have found that weight-focused approaches to nutrition and health are generally unsustainable, can promote disordered behaviors, and even do harm.

Instead, I focus on health-promoting behaviors, healing our relationship with food and body, and creating a space to question and grapple with cultural norms of size and health.

  • I am based in Seattle, WA.

Due to licensing laws, I am currently only seeing clients who are located in either Washington or Oregon.

  • Growing up, people liked to jokingly ask if I lived up to my namesake (Grace). For many, “graceful” is a synonym for “elegant”, “refined”, or otherwise too-perfect-to-be-human (if you ask me). So many of us are taught unrealistic expectations of perfection when it comes to our eating habits, body size, appearance, and even blood sugars. In my world, I am using the term “graceful” in the sense of showing up for ourselves with unconditional grace and compassion. I look forward to guiding you in the journey to honor and nourish your body without dieting or restriction.
